Coherence Quantum Secures €2.78M to Build Quantum’s Future

Espoo-based startup Coherence Quantum has closed a €2.78 million seed round led by Lifeline Ventures to tackle one of the least visible but most important bottlenecks in quantum computing: cryogenic infrastructure. The company aims to deliver scalable signalling and control systems that support larger quantum processors and quantum AI workloads.

Addressing the Quantum Scaling Challenge

Scaling quantum processors is not just a matter of adding qubits. As systems grow, the challenge shifts to routing control signals, limiting thermal load and preserving low-noise environments inside dilution refrigerators. Higher qubit counts multiply the number of cables, connectors and room-temperature electronics, creating space, heat and signal-integrity problems that undermine coherence times and gate fidelity for both superconducting qubits and spin-qubit systems.

An Integrated Cryogenic Solution for AI’s Quantum Leap

Coherence Quantum is building an integrated cryogenic signalling and control platform that relocates key control functions closer to the quantum processing unit. Their approach focuses on signal conditioning, higher-density interfaces and active control elements that operate at low temperatures to reduce wiring complexity and thermal load. By consolidating functionality into cryo-compatible modules, the platform aims to improve signal fidelity while freeing up space and simplifying system architecture. The startup traces its research roots to Aalto University, with advisor Mikko Möttf6nen contributing technical guidance. Founders Aashish Sah (CEO), Suman Kundu (CTO) and Erkki Soininen (CPO) bring combined expertise in cryogenics, quantum hardware and systems engineering. Lifeline Ventures partner Petteri Koponen is a lead investor supporting the effort.

Pioneering a Scalable Quantum Future

Coherence Quantum plans to use the seed funding for R&D, prototyping and initial manufacturing in Espoo, expanding the team to accelerate product development. Their long-term vision is a standardized cryogenic blueprint that laboratories and companies can adopt to scale quantum processors reliably. For quantum AI, such infrastructure is a foundational element that will allow larger, more stable processors to run complex algorithms. If successful, this work will help shift the industry from proof of concept toward practical, large-scale quantum systems.
