Xanadu Quantum Technologies has completed a public listing through a merger with Crane Harbor Acquisition Corp., a Special Purpose Acquisition Company (SPAC), achieving a valuation of approximately $3.1 billion. This transaction raised nearly $500 million, combining funds from the trust and private investment in public equity (PIPE). The capital is earmarked for advancing the development, deployment, and commercialization of their quantum systems and open-source software platform, PennyLane. With this step, Xanadu becomes the first publicly traded pure-play photonic quantum computing company, opening new avenues for investment and innovation within the quantum computing industry.

Founded in 2016 and supported by established investment firms, Xanadu focuses on photonic quantum computing—a promising branch of quantum technology that leverages photons to process and transmit quantum information. Their core hardware prototype, Aurora, currently features 12 qubits and operates at room temperature. Unique to Aurora is its modular design that incorporates photonic chips and fiber optics, enabling automation and scalability. Photonic quantum computing offers significant benefits, notably in energy efficiency and the potential for scaling quantum devices more seamlessly compared to traditional superconducting approaches.
